DETROIT -- Marco Kasper, a promising young player for the Detroit Red Wings, reflected on his successful NHL rookie season in 2024-25 and expressed optimism for the upcoming 2025-26 season. "We felt like we had a good thing going at the end of the season honestly," Kasper told DetroitRedWings.com. He emphasized the team's desire to play meaningful games and make it to the playoffs.

Kasper was recalled from the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins on October 18 under emergency conditions and went on to record 37 points (19 goals, 18 assists) in 77 games with Detroit last season. His performance was notable as he achieved the most points by a Red Wings rookie since Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider in the 2021-22 season.

Named the 2024-25 Red Wings Rookie of the Year by Detroit Sports Media, Kasper led all NHL rookies with 17 goals between January 1 and April 17. "It’s really cool to be chosen for that award," said Kasper. He highlighted his intention to take further steps forward with his team.

Kasper's strong performance extended beyond NHL play as he participated in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship held in Stockholm, Sweden, and Herning, Denmark from May 9-25. In eight games with Team Austria, he scored seven points (four goals, three assists). "Worlds was a really good, fun tournament for Austria," said Kasper.

During this offseason, Kasper has been focusing on expanding his game. "At the beginning of the offseason, you always focus on getting bigger and stronger so that’s a big part of it," he stated.

Kasper is part of a skilled Detroit roster that includes other young talents like Elmer Soderblom, Jonatan Berggren, and Albert Johansson. Each has re-signed with the Red Wings this offseason. "It’s great that all those guys got their contracts," commented Kasper.

Looking ahead to what will be Detroit's centennial season in the NHL, Kasper expressed pride in being part of such an esteemed organization: "It’s one of the best and greatest organizations in the NHL."
