Detroit City Football Club is set to resume its USL Championship league play with an upcoming match against Oakland Roots SC. The game will take place at the historic Oakland Coliseum on Saturday night, with kickoff scheduled for 10 p.m. Fans can watch the live stream on CBS Sports Golazo Network, TUDN, and CW Detroit 50 (WKBD-TV). Additionally, Michigan residents have free streaming access via CBSDetroit.com.

The team approaches this match following a thrilling penalty kick victory in the USL Jägermeister Cup against Hartford Athletic. Matt Sheldon played a pivotal role by scoring twice to bring the game to penalties. A decisive save by Carlos Herrera allowed Michael Bryant to secure the win with a successful penalty shot.

This victory keeps Detroit City in contention for the Jägermeister Cup, with the group outcome to be determined in the final match week at July's end.

Matt Sheldon's performance earned him a spot in the Team of the Round for Round 3 of the 2025 USL Jägermeister Cup. Alongside his two goals, he achieved a 70% passing accuracy rate and won eight duels.

Oakland Roots are currently positioned at the bottom of the Western Conference table with 14 points. However, they are only six points behind fifth-place Phoenix Rising FC, indicating that one win could significantly alter their standing. Oakland secured a victory last weekend in the Jägermeister Cup with a 2-1 win over Monterey Bay FC.

The upcoming match will feature Detroit City facing former player Morey Doner, who joined Oakland in May. During his time with Le Rouge, Doner made seven appearances and scored one goal. Since joining Oakland, he has participated in five matches, contributing two goals and one assist.
