Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, representing Michigan's 12th district, has been vocal on social media about issues affecting immigrant communities and advocating for racial justice. Her recent tweets reflect her commitment to these causes.

On June 15, 2025, Tlaib marked the 13th anniversary of DACA by expressing concern for immigrant communities. She stated, "On the 13th anniversary of DACA, I’m thinking of our immigrant communities under attack and all the young people who’ve called our country home for nearly their entire lives still living in fear of being torn from their families. They deserve a pathway to citizenship."

The following day, on June 16, she highlighted the cultural contributions of various immigrant groups in Michigan. She tweeted about the diverse neighborhoods that thrive due to immigrants' deep cultural roots: "From the vibrant African and Caribbean communities in Brightmoor to our Yemeni families in Dearborn, to our strong Latino communities in Southwest, our neighborhoods thrive because of the deep cultural roots and contributions of immigrants."

On June 17, coinciding with Juneteenth celebrations, Tlaib addressed reparations and economic justice for Black communities. She emphasized the need for systemic changes by stating: "Our Black neighbors in Michigan know reparations are long overdue. This Juneteenth, let’s honor Black lives by fighting for reparations, Black maternal health equity, HBCU investments, and economic justice for our Black communities."

Rashida Tlaib has served as a U.S. Congress member since 2019 after replacing Brenda Jones. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, she holds a BA from Wayne State University and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
