On June 20, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) will open its 4th Annual Wayne County High School Art Exhibition. The event showcases 84 pieces created by high school students from across Wayne County and will be displayed in the Wayne and Joan Webber Education Wing at the DIA until July 20, 2025. A celebration for families and students is scheduled for June 24 to mark the exhibition's opening.

The exhibition highlights the artistic vision, creativity, and technical skills of high school students attending public, charter, private, or home schools in Wayne County. This year's collection includes photography, painting, textiles, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, and more from over 30 schools.

"We are honored to once again shine a spotlight on the talents of Wayne County’s young artists at the DIA," said Salvador Salort-Pons, Director of the Detroit Institute of Arts. "This exhibition continues to demonstrate art's role in inspiring and empowering the next generation of creative thinkers and reflects the museum’s ongoing commitment to supporting educational opportunities in the arts."

Warren C. Evans expressed appreciation for these young artists: "They've harnessed their creativity to produce works that showcase their skills and speak to their unique perspectives and experiences. We are grateful to the DIA for its continued dedication to elevating young artists from our community. We hope to see even more schools get involved in the future so we can expand this impressive exhibit."

After closing at the DIA on July 20, select artworks will move to downtown Detroit's Guardian Building for extended public viewing in August.

Further details about this exhibition can be found at https://dia.org/wchsae4. General admission is free for museum members and residents of Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties.
