The Detroit Regional Chamber has joined more than 200 other chambers of commerce in calling for Congress to establish a 10-year moratorium on the enforcement of state and local regulations specific to artificial intelligence (AI). The collective appeal is driven by concerns over the rapid advancement of AI technologies and the inconsistent regulatory approaches being adopted by different states.

According to the letter, "Congress should take these 10 years to develop its understanding of artificial intelligence and create the proper regulatory template that allows businesses to utilize AI’s strengths while keeping the nation competitive."

This initiative reflects a broader concern within the business community about ensuring that AI development is not stifled by disparate regulations across various jurisdictions. The coalition suggests that a unified approach would allow for better integration of AI into business practices, thereby maintaining economic competitiveness.
