The public comment period for the construction permits of the Great Lakes Tunnel, a project related to Enbridge’s Line 5, is now open. The Detroit Regional Chamber is encouraging its members to submit their comments in support of permit approval by June 30, 2025.

Enbridge has dedicated over 40,000 hours to survey work in the Straits since the permitting process began five years ago. These efforts have been part of one of Michigan's most thorough project reviews.

"The Great Lakes Tunnel will be built safely," states the Detroit Regional Chamber. The tunnel aims to enhance safety by moving a section of the existing Line 5 pipeline from underwater into a tunnel beneath the lake bed.

Public comments can be submitted via the Army Corps of Engineers or through a public letter available for signing online.
