Detroit City Football Club's home opener for the 2025 USL W League season concluded in a scoreless draw against Union Macomb FC. The match, held on Saturday night, showcased strong defensive performances from both teams, resulting in a clean sheet.

Head coach David Dwaihy introduced an almost entirely new starting lineup compared to their previous game against AFC Ann Arbor. Allison Lapoint continued as the goalkeeper, with Ella Offer, Maia Soulis, Acadia Murphy, and Mira Webster forming the defense. The midfield featured Ella Karolak, Kate Childers, Abby Werthman, and Tatiana Mason. Upfront were Kayla Addison and Hannah Crum.

In the eleventh minute, Kayla Addison had an early opportunity after forcing a turnover but narrowly missed the top corner of the net. Tatiana Mason nearly scored in the 18th minute; however, her shot hit the post and was collected by Union Macomb's goalkeeper.

Union Macomb gained control of possession after the 20th minute. A close-range attempt in the 25th minute required a notable save from Allison Lapoint. Following a Detroit City foul outside the box in the 38th minute, Union Macomb had their best chance of scoring, but Detroit City's defense successfully cleared the threat.

The second half saw Union Macomb dominate possession again, prompting tactical changes from DCFC. Substitutions included Ella Kane for Kayla Addison at halftime and Emily Pagett for Tatiana Mason in the 61st minute. Drew Martin and Sophia Enwright replaced Hannah Crum and Mira Webster in the 69th minute.

Detroit regained control in the final ten minutes of play. In the 81st minute, Ella Kane forced a diving save from Union Macomb's keeper with her shot attempt. Despite several late opportunities for Le Rouge, they could not penetrate Union Macomb's defense before time expired.

The match ended with neither team able to score.
