Later that day, she expressed criticism towards Republican proposals concerning Medicaid and food assistance cuts. On May 14, 2025, she tweeted: "Why are Republicans proposing the largest Medicaid and food assistance cuts in history? So they can give the top 1% an extra $65,000/year. Absolutely vile."

On May 15, 2025, Congresswoman Tlaib addressed issues affecting veterans during a Veterans Town Hall meeting. She highlighted actions by the Trump Administration that involve cutting funding and firing federal workers at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In her tweet from that day she said: "Our veterans sacrificed so much for our country, but the Trump Administration is cutting funding and firing federal workers at the VA. Veterans deserve full investments in their health care. At the Veterans Town Hall, I voiced my commitment to keeping the promise to our veterans."

Rashida Tlaib was born in Detroit in 1976 and continues to reside there. She holds a BA from Wayne State University and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
