Detroit City FC has announced a new youth affiliation with Huron Valley Storm FC. The partnership will see the travel soccer program become Detroit City FC Youth Huron Valley. This collaboration aims to expand resources and offer enhanced soccer development opportunities across the Huron Valley region.
The affiliation provides a structured pathway for players from Huron Valley Storm FC, allowing them to progress through various levels of play, from grassroots to professional tiers. Players will transition to wearing Le Rouge & Gold starting in June 2025.
Todd Kropp, COO of Detroit City FC, emphasized the importance of this partnership: “We believe that every youth player across Metro Detroit and beyond deserves a club that they will never outgrow.”
Connor Rutz, current forward for Detroit City FC and long-time associate of Huron Valley Storm, will take on the role of Director of Coaching for the new youth affiliate. Rutz expressed his enthusiasm: “If I could give at least just one kid the chance that I’ve had... then I am doing my job.”
Shaun Finney, Storm FC Club Director, shared his excitement about aligning with DCFC: “Our goal has been to provide quality coaching while developing players... We are excited to be partnering with DCFC.”
DCFC Huron Valley will continue as an independently run community club but will benefit from DCFC's professional approach and commitment. It becomes the seventh youth affiliate in DCFC's system.
