Michigan business owners and groups have expressed mixed reactions to the state Legislature's recent changes to tipped minimum wage increases and paid sick time mandates. The overhaul, which took place late Thursday, is seen as a compromise between previously approved policies that were set to take effect on Friday.
The Detroit Regional Chamber issued a statement regarding the legislative actions. "While not representative of the entire business community’s wish list, the legislature’s actions will make employer compliance with the new acts much more bearable," it said. The Chamber described the outcome as a "necessary compromise" between businesses and other stakeholders.
