Detroit City Football Club (DCFC) has entered into a multi-year collaboration with AlumniFi, the digital-first financial brand of MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), establishing AlumniFi as DCFC's exclusive financial partner. The partnership was facilitated by Sports Revenue Advisors and includes jersey sponsorship, financial education initiatives, and enhanced banking access for supporters.
Starting in the 2025 season, AlumniFi’s logo will feature prominently on the jerseys of DCFC’s United Soccer League (USL) men’s and women’s teams, academy players, and over 3,000 youth across Michigan. This collaboration extends beyond sportswear branding to include community-driven initiatives focused on financial literacy and economic development in Detroit.
April Clobes, President and CEO of AlumniFi, emphasized the community focus of this partnership: “Like Detroit City Football Club, we believe in the power of community. This partnership is about more than banking — it’s about providing financial empowerment and opportunities that help Detroit thrive."
She added that through various programs, they aim to "fuel economic growth, support local businesses, and provide financial empowerment opportunities for Detroit City FC supporters and the city."
Since its inception in 2012, DCFC has grown significantly from a grassroots organization to a notable entity in U.S. soccer known for its dedicated fanbase and community involvement. Sean Mann, CEO and Co-Owner of Detroit City FC stated: “Detroit City FC is excited to partner with a financial institution that aligns with our values.” He noted that both organizations share a vision for fostering a stronger connection within Detroit.
Part of this agreement involves expanding access to financial tools for DCFC supporters. AlumniFi plans to introduce branded ATMs at Keyworth Stadium along with launching exclusive DCFC-themed debit and credit cards offering perks such as discounts on merchandise, tickets, and events.
The new jerseys featuring AlumniFi branding will make their debut on March 8th when DCFC begins its season against Miami. The home opener at Keyworth Stadium is scheduled for March 22nd against Birmingham Legion.
