Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, representing Michigan's 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has recently shared her views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Known for her advocacy and activism, Tlaib continues to address topics ranging from Black History Month to government spending.
On February 10, 2025, Tlaib emphasized the importance of Black History Month as both a celebration and a call to action against attempts to diminish Black history. She stated, "Born and raised in Detroit, the Blackest city in the country, I know Black History Month is a time to honor Black legacies. But it’s also a reminder to fight back against right-wing efforts to erase Black history. Black history is American history. Period."
Later that day, she addressed concerns about political authority and judicial rulings with another tweet: "These lawless authoritarians are already being blocked by the courts, and they can only ignore those rulings if we let them. Congress must stand up for its Constitutional role and we must join the people in the streets in mass opposition to this unfolding coup attempt."
On February 11, 2025, Tlaib criticized government spending priorities with her post: "There is always endless money to bomb people, but not for clean water, health care, and housing. Our elected officials are choosing another record-breaking Pentagon budget when it can't even pass an audit. I'm sick of it."
