Detroit Policy Conference to focus on innovation economy

Today, the Detroit Policy Conference is set to explore strategies for maintaining a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving innovation economy. The event, titled "Driving the Innovation Economy," will take place on Thursday, January 23.

Keynote speakers include Dug Song from the Song Foundation, Oakland County Executive David Coulter, and Mayor Mike Duggan of Detroit. Attendees will also hear from leaders such as Kevin Johnson of the Detroit Economic Growth Corp. and Darren Riley of JustAir during Power Perspectives sessions.

The conference agenda features panels with business figures like Jessica Robinson from Assembly Ventures and educational experts including Dr. Kimberly Andrews Espy from Wayne State University. Innovators such as Mary Culler and Josh Sirefman from Michigan Central, along with Nia Batts from Union Heritage, will engage in discussions.

A reception is planned with members of the Detroit City Council, including President Mary Sheffield, President Pro Tem James Tate, Member Scott Benson, Member Fred Durhal III, and Member At-Large Coleman A. Young II.

For those unable to attend in person, a live webcast sponsored by Bank of America will start at 8:45 a.m.
