Today, the Creative Class Group released a report commissioned by the Detroit Regional Chamber and the University of Michigan titled "Competing at Scale: The Case for a Detroit-Ann Arbor Innovation Corridor." The report, led by Richard Florida, Founder of the Creative Class Group, emphasizes the potential benefits of establishing an innovation corridor between Detroit and Ann Arbor.

The study highlights that the Detroit region possesses significant strengths that could be leveraged to revitalize its position as a hub for technologically advanced manufacturing industries and corporate R&D laboratories. It points out that few regions are as well-positioned as Detroit and Ann Arbor to take advantage of emerging technologies like advanced mobility and artificial intelligence. According to the report, creating a Detroit-Ann Arbor Innovation Corridor could set a new standard for high-tech-driven economic development.

In May, an initiative called Innovate Michigan was announced by the Chamber and University of Michigan. This initiative aims to promote innovation, technological advancement, and economic growth from Ann Arbor to Detroit, positioning the region as a national leader in technology and economic development. The newly released report provides additional insight into this effort.

The theme for this year’s Detroit Policy Conference is "Driving the Innovation Economy," inspired by Innovate Michigan. The conference agenda focuses on leveraging Michigan's assets to foster innovation throughout the region, with particular emphasis on connecting Detroit and Ann Arbor.
