Captain Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, both forwards for the Detroit Red Wings, will face each other as opponents in the upcoming 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. The tournament is scheduled to take place at Montreal’s Bell Centre and Boston’s TD Garden from February 12-20. The NHL announced the full 23-man rosters for the participating teams—United States, Canada, Sweden, and Finland—on Wednesday.

Larkin will represent the United States while Raymond will play for Sweden. "Very happy for [Larkin and Raymond], very well-earned," said Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde. He also expressed empathy for those who did not make it to their national teams.

Larkin shared his feelings about being selected: “It’s a great honor,” he said. “To see the list of players and be part of that is a great accomplishment.” He thanked his family and teammates for their support.

Raymond echoed similar sentiments about representing Sweden: “Obviously excited,” he stated. “Any time you get the chance to represent your country...it’s always a lot of fun.”

Both players have extensive experience on international stages. Larkin has played in multiple International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships and other international tournaments since 2013. He reminisced about watching USA Hockey's National Team growing up, highlighting memorable moments like John Carlson's goal at World Juniors.

Raymond has also had success internationally, including securing a bronze medal at the 2024 IIHF World Championship. He described international games as more intense than regular NHL matches: “Usually, a lot shorter of a period...a lot more intense.”

Facing off against each other will be new territory for both players. Raymond noted it would be strange playing against Larkin but anticipated it would be enjoyable: “We talked about it a little bit...I think it’d be a lot of fun.”
