The Detroit Red Wings aim to break a three-game winless streak as they face the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday night. The game, set for 7 p.m., will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network.
Detroit, currently with a record of 10-11-4, recently lost in overtime to the Boston Bruins, marking their second consecutive defeat. Lucas Raymond was notable in that game, scoring both goals and extending his point streak to eight games. "A little frustrated not to get the full two points [on Tuesday] because there was a ton of positives," said Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde.
Raymond has been a key player for Detroit this season, leading the team with 27 points over 25 games. Lalonde praised Raymond's development and contributions: “Nothing surprises me out of him... obviously a very valuable player for us.”
In goal, Ville Husso will start again after making 32 saves against Boston. Sebastian Cossa will serve as backup. Lalonde expressed confidence in both goaltenders: “[Husso] has done great for us... We have full confidence in Coss.”
Ottawa trails Detroit by two points in the Atlantic Division standings. The Senators finished their recent road trip with a shootout loss to Anaheim. Key players include Tim Stutzle, Brady Tkachuk, and Drake Batherson, each having scored at least 25 points this season.
Linus Ullmark is expected to be in net for Ottawa. Since joining the Senators from Boston, he holds a record of 5-7-2 this season.
After Thursday’s matchup, these teams will meet again on January 7 at Little Caesars Arena.
“They’ve got some heaviness with some of their top-end guys,” Lalonde commented on Ottawa's roster. “We’ve got to have good pushback... to give ourselves a chance.”
