The Detroit Red Wings are set to face the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Tuesday night as they begin a two-game road trip against Atlantic Division opponents. The game, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., will be available for streaming exclusively on ESPN+ and HULU, with Ken Kal, Paul Woods, and Daniella Bruce providing commentary on the Red Wings Radio Network.
Following this matchup, the Red Wings will head to Ottawa to play the Senators on Thursday. Ville Husso, who will start in net against Boston, emphasized the importance of improving performance. “We need to keep improving,” Husso stated. “Two wins for us [on this road trip] would be huge.”
The Red Wings arrive in Boston after a 5-4 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. Jonatan Berggren contributed a goal and an assist in that game. Despite recent close matches, head coach Derek Lalonde highlighted missed opportunities. “[Sunday’s game] was a missed opportunity,” he remarked.
Ahead of Tuesday's optional morning skate in Boston, Detroit made roster adjustments by recalling William Lagesson from the Grand Rapids Griffins and placing Patrick Kane on injured reserve retroactive to November 23.
The Bruins are currently third in the Atlantic Division and have secured victories in four of their last six games, including a recent win over the Montreal Canadiens. David Pastrnak leads his team with nine goals this season. "He’s a true goal scorer," said Lalonde regarding Pastrnak's abilities.
In their previous encounter this season, Jeremy Swayman helped secure a 2-1 victory for the Bruins over the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on November 23. The teams will meet again in Detroit later this season.
Lalonde noted changes in Boston's defensive strategy under new coaching: “They’re more conscious of defending,” he observed.
