Detroit City FC has secured its first-ever playoff berth on the women's side, defeating Midwest United 1-0. The match, held on June 27, 2024, was marked by intense back-and-forth action with both teams creating dangerous opportunities.

In the ninth minute, Tatiana Mason scored the decisive goal after being set up by Kayla Addison. Following this early breakthrough, Midwest United intensified their efforts to equalize, knowing a win was essential for their playoff aspirations.

DCFC's defense held firm against Midwest's attacks while continuing to threaten offensively. Hannah Crum nearly doubled DCFC's lead in the 29th minute with a long-range shot that struck the crossbar. Shortly thereafter, DCFC goalkeeper Gabby Schriver made crucial saves to maintain her team's advantage.

The second half saw DCFC adopt a more defensive stance as Midwest United dominated possession in search of an equalizer. In the 64th minute, Maia Soulis created a prime scoring opportunity for Faith Webber, but her attempts were thwarted.

As the match neared its conclusion, Midwest United pushed forward aggressively. This left gaps at the back which Ella Kane exploited for DCFC, though she was unable to convert any of her chances in the 67th, 74th, and 89th minutes.

With this victory, Detroit City FC clinched a spot in the USL W League playoffs for the first time. The Conference Semifinals and Finals are scheduled from July 5 to 7. Details regarding hosting will be announced soon.

DCFC will conclude their regular season with a match against AFC Ann Arbor on June 30 at 4:00 p.m. Information about the first round of playoffs will be released when available.

Starting XI for DCFC included Gabrielle Schriver (GK), Allie Tefend, Avery Peters, Acadia Murphy, Drew Martin (55’), Dani Stephens (55’), Kate Childers, Hannah Crum (81’), Tatiana Mason (72’), Faith Webber (81’), and Kayla Addison (55’).
