Several of Michigan’s largest business groups on Thursday criticized state Attorney General Dana Nessel’s plan to sue the fossil fuel industry over climate change, labeling it as "frivolous" and harmful to the economy.

The organizations also questioned Nessel's strategy to hire outside lawyers for the litigation, suggesting it would benefit only a "select few." Proposals were due Wednesday, and Nessel is expected to decide on a firm by August 2 after signaling the lawsuit in May.
