Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Andre Neal Hardaway, 55, of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shootings of Michigan State Police (MSP) Troopers.

On March 10, 2023, at approximately 5:01 p.m., the Michigan State Police and the Detroit Police Department were investigating a residence in the 10200 block of Outer Drive in Detroit. Once they were lawfully inside the house, it is alleged that Defendant Hardaway fired multiple gunshots, non-fatally injuring two troopers. The troopers returned fire, non-fatally striking the defendant. The two injured troopers were taken from the home and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

It is further alleged that Defendant Hardaway barricaded himself inside his home. The Detroit Police Department Special Response Team (SRT) was called to the scene and a perimeter was set up around the home. After a three-and-a-half-hour standoff, the defendant exited the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics transported Defendant Hardaway to a local hospital for treatment.

Andre Neal Hardaway has been charged with three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and four counts of Felony Firearm. *

"The alleged actions of this defendant took place when members of law enforcement were carrying out their lawful duties. This is yet another clear example that highlights the dangerousness and uncertainty of their jobs," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

He was arraigned this morning in 36th District Court before Magistrate Rodney Johnson and given a $850,000 cash bond. A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for March 17, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 22, 2023, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 29, 2023, before Judge Patricia Jefferson. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
