Detroit Parks & Recreation announces second annual WinterFest, a free family-fun event celebrating winter in the D

Adams Butzel Complex and Jack Adams Ice Arena will turn into a winter wonderland with tons of activities for WinterFest 2023 presented by Detroit Parks & Recreation. The event will take place at Adams Butzel Complex, 10500 Lyndon on January 14, 2022 from noon – 4 p.m. and features a full schedule of indoor and outdoor activations for the entire family to enjoy. 

The event will feature free ice skating at Jack Adams Ice Arena, Detroit Red Wings hockey demos, figure skating demos, horse & carriage rides, food trucks, Wintercade gaming zone, and a Frozen Forest with Elsa and other characters from the Disney movie. Additionally, Detroit-based vendors and entertainment will be front and center for attendees to enjoy. 

“Detroiters expect great recreation programming and we are happy to provide it by making WinterFest an annual event," said Brad Dick, Group Executive, Services & Infrastructure, City of Detroit. “We are making it bigger and better this year and invite residents to experience Fun in the D at one of Detroit's premier recreation complexes." 

Since reopening after the pandemic more than 15,000 people have attended Detroit Parks & Recreation signature events held each quarter. 2,000 people are expected to attend WinterFest in January.
