Inflation across all sectors of business in Michigan and nationwide has made consumers more cautious about what they spend money on, and a recent poll showed that 6 in 10 Americans are placing the blame on President Joe Biden.
"President Joe Biden finally did it," Washington Examiner columnist Paul Bedard said on the site. "The lackluster leader’s approval rating has fallen below every president of the modern era at this stage of their term. Citing approval polling dating back to Harry S. Truman in 1945, FiveThirtyEight said that no president has been below, or even equal to, Biden’s average of 40.9% on day 490 of their presidency."
Biden's approval rating is 4 points lower than what former President Donald Trump received during the same time in office, the Washington Examiner reported.
The Trafalgar Group asked U.S. voters likely to participate in the general election what was to blame for surging inflation, and 59.9% of the 1,091 respondents said the policies of the Biden Administration were at fault. Approximately 31.6% blamed the Russia-Ukraine war. Among independent voters, 61.1% blamed Biden. The survey took place from May 25-29, with a margin of error of less than 3%.
The Trafalgar Group is an Atlanta-based polling organization founded by Robert Cahaly, a senior strategist and pollster.
The Detroit Regional Chamber (DRC) recently released results from its poll of Michigan voters, DBusiness reported. When asked about their economic outlook, 72.8% said the economy is on the wrong track. Within that 72.8%, 44% were referring specifically to inflation and the cost of goods, 9.8% cited fuel costs and 2.3% had in mind the job market.
Of those polled, 33% said inflation is the most important issue Michiganders face, according to DBusiness.
