City of Allen Park recently issued the following announcement.
TO THE OWNERS, AGENTS OR OCCUPANTS OF ANY LOTS OR PARCEL OF LAND IN THE CITY OF ALLEN PARK, YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED:
- All noxious weeds and tall grass (grass longer than 6 inches) growing on any lot or parcel of land, in the City of Allen Park, Wayne County, Michigan, must be cut down and destroyed. Then and thereafter cut on a regular basis to prevent re-growth of said weeds and tall grass. City of Allen Park Code, Section 16-119, et. seq.
- You are further notified that beginning May 1, 2022 that all noxious weeds and tall grass not cut shall be cut by the City of Allen Park as many times as is necessary to keep any lot or parcel in compliance with the ordinance and the cost thereof shall be charged to the property owner and shall become a lien upon the land and collected in the same manner as general property taxes against the land. - In addition, the failure to comply with the requirements to destroy noxious weeds and tall grass, may subject you to prosecution; you shall be liable for a fine not to exceed $100.00, plus the cost of abatement by the city listed below in (4).
- Failure to comply with this notice shall make the owner, occupant or person having charge of said lot or parcel of land liable for the cost of each cutting and destroying same and debris removal charge of $325.00 plus a $75.00 administration fee per lot or parcel of land for each cutting and shall be charged and collected against the property in the manner provided by law, in addition to any other penalty provided by law.
