City of Dearborn Heights recently issued the following announcement.
The Dearborn Heights Firefighters remind us that one of the greatest safety threats during the holiday season comes as a result of the careless use of live Christmas trees. Make sure to purchase a fresh tree; check all lights for frayed wires and other excessive wear; do not decorate a tree with flammable items; don't overload electrical outlets; and always make sure your smoke detectors are working properly and everyone knows the escape route in case of a fire.
