No Adoption or License Fees through December 20th

  • No fees for adoptions at Detroit Animal Care through December 20th, thanks to partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation
  • Dog licenses complimentary through December 20th, thanks to Friends of Detroit Animal Care & Control
Detroiters who adopt or a dog or cat from Detroit Animal Care through December 20th will not have to pay adoption fees, thanks to a partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation’s national “Empty the Shelters” program.

“We are making it easier for Detroiters to find Furever Friends through our ‘Home for the Holidays program, thanks to the sponsorship of adoption fees by BISSELL Pet Foundation through December 20th,” said Mark Kumpf, Detroit Animal Care Director. “We are happy to partner with BISSELL Pet Foundation again this holiday season through their ‘Empty the Shelters’ program, which brings holiday hope to dogs and cats by sponsoring adoption fees.”

Detroit Animal Care is one of 200 shelters in 40 states that will participate in BISSELL Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” program, which provides generous funding that reduces adoption fees for dogs and cats.

Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control will be sponsoring complimentary dog licenses for Detroit residents with their adoption. “Licenses are the best way to show a dog is a valued family member and is critical to getting lost dogs home quickly,” said Director Kumpf.

All Detroiters are welcome to come and visit Detroit Animal Care and check out the many dogs and cats in need of a Home for the Holidays. All animals are fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered. They are also available for ‘couch-testing’ and fostering. The shelter is open seven days a week from 11 AM – 3 PM. Detroit Animal Care is located at 7401 Chrysler Drive, Detroit. To see many of the animals that are up for adoption visit adopt@friendsofdacc.org or their Facebook page.

Detroiters who want to help can also make a donation to fund the purchase of a Kuranda Dog Bed to provide comfort to an animal in need at the Detroit Animal Care shelter. The beds are specially designed to help animals rest and sleep, reducing stress. They are easy to clean and sanitize. Anyone who would like to sponsor the purchase of a Kuranda Dog Bed may do so by visiting the Detroit Animal Care shelter wish list at:
