County of Wayne issued the following announcement on Oct 6.
On Monday, October 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm the City of Melvindale celebrated their newly Lankford Park, with support from Wayne County's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The new playground inclusive design adhere to ADA standards and will be used as a space for community-building for all. Wayne County Commissioner llona Varga, City of Melvindale Mayor Wheller Marsee, members of the Wayne County Community Development Division and elected officials, employees, resident from the City of Melvindale were present for the Ribbon Cutting event.
Wayne County’s CDBG program in collaboration with the City of Melvindale upgraded five new playground structures throughout the city and installed new restrooms in Coogan Park. The total project cost $559,203.00. The project covered the following parks: Coogan Park, Lankford Park, McGinty Park, Plonk Park, and De Luca Field.
