City of Detroit recently issued the following announcement.
Friday is Civil Rights Day at Spirit Plaza
Join Detroit Civil Rights, Inclusion and Opportunity Department on Friday, September 10 from 10am - 5pm for food and live entertainment, PLUS discussion panel focusing on Civil Rights Criminal Justice Reform! Panel begins at 1pm.
Multiple resource groups will also be present, including the Detroit Branch NAACP, Project Clean Slate, Focus: HOPE, COD Employee Resource Group, and the Office of Disability Affairs.
“This event is part of our ongoing efforts to celebrate Black culture, while also educating residents on important issues impacting our community,” said Erica Hill, Deputy Director of CRIO. “We encourage the public to take part as we celebrate Civil Rights Day, and remember those who sacrificed so much to get us to where we are.”
