A statement from University of Detroit Mercy President Antoine M. Garibaldi: University of Detroit Mercy mourns the passing of alumnus Benny Napoleon. He was a staunch community advocate and worked tirelessly for the people of our city. The former Detroit police chief and current Wayne County Sheriff was dedicated to his native city, Detroit Mercy and the law enforcement profession.
