CITY OF DETROIT: Local poet Ben Will to host a virtual spoken work poetry competition

City of Detroit issued the following announcement.

The HAM Slam, presented by Ben Will, is a virtual spoken word poetry competition established to help Black and BIPOC poets in the United States generate revenue; while creating and sharing new work that is uplifting, funny, and provides a creative escape. The overall goal of of the event is to invigorate the multifaceted Black community.

Submissions for the competition can be made here. The submission deadline is Tuesday December 8th at 5 p.m. Poets need to be at least 16 years old and identify as either Black or BIPOC to submit for a chance to claim one of the 5 commissioned competition spots.
