Superintendent’s Report:
DPSCD Superintendent Dr. Nikolai Vitti reported that the nine Tele-Town Hall meetings he held to discuss the options available to families in the Reopening Plan during the first two weeks of August engaged more than 22,000 participants. In addition, Dr. Vitti said that 80% of families had completed their Reopening Plan surveys. The final deadline to complete the surveys, found in your students’ email, is Friday, August 21, you can also acccess the survey link here.
Dr. Vitti noted the Connected Futures initiative, in which students are provided wireless tablets and six months of free internet service, has positioned the District to meet the high expectations from the community for those families that opt for online learning when schools reopen on September 8. He added that there will be makeup dates at the end of August for families who have yet to pick up their devices as well as for seniors who graduated this spring. More information will be forthcoming. Please watch the District website as well as social media platforms for the messaging.
