The Detroit Fire Department will expand its fleet through a deal with Spartan Emergency Response.
According to a press release, the fire apparatus manufacturer will provide 35 vehicles to the department over a period of five years.
“We currently have 26 Smeal vehicles in service and are looking forward to adding to our fleet to protect and serve Detroit’s citizens and visitors,” Detroit Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell said in a press release.
All of the new vehicles will include Spartan’s exclusive comprehensive safety enhancement features. Among the vehicles that will be provided are Smeal 100-foot rear-mount aerials, the Smeal 100-foot midmount platform and Spartan Star Series pumpers.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with the Detroit Fire Department as they work to upgrade their equipment, and we look forward to serving the city of Detroit for years to come,” Stephen Carleton, director of sales at Spartan Emergency Response, said in the release.
