Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who has represented Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently took to social media to express her views on several pressing issues. Tlaib, a Detroit native with a background in law and public service, used her platform to address concerns related to health care, human rights, and international conflicts.

On May 13, 2025, Tlaib highlighted the plight of over four million women living with breast cancer in the United States. She emphasized the need for action rather than funding cuts and stated that she had joined the Unite to End Breast Cancer Rally. Her call was for “bold federal investment in prevention, treatment, and equitable care.” The original tweet can be found here.

The following day, May 14, 2025, Tlaib expressed outrage over an unspecified incident involving women being mistreated. She described the situation as “downright disgusting and inhumane,” emphasizing that these women are “someone’s daughter, sister, mother” and deserve justice. The original tweet is available here.

Later on May 14, Tlaib addressed ongoing tensions in Gaza by referring to historical events affecting Palestinians. She declared that “the Nakba never ended” and accused the Israeli regime of carrying out genocide in Gaza. To mark what she describes as “77 years of the ongoing Nakba against Palestinians,” she announced plans to introduce a resolution in Congress. This statement can be viewed here.

Tlaib’s educational background includes a BA from Wayne State University and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Her career began with serving in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 until 2014 before moving on to her current role in Congress.
