The Detroit Tigers have secured the services of outfielder Manuel Margot for the 2025 season with a one-year, split contract. Margot will earn $1,300,000 in the major leagues and $200,000 in the minor leagues. The contract includes performance bonuses of $300,000 each for reaching 200, 300, 400, and 500 plate appearances while playing in the major leagues. To accommodate Margot on their roster, the Tigers placed outfielder Parker Meadows on the 60-day disabled list due to right upper arm inflammation.

Margot has a career batting average of .254 (742-for-2,927) with 150 doubles, 56 home runs, 96 stolen bases, and 314 RBIs over nine seasons. His previous teams include the San Diego Padres (2016-19), Tampa Bay Rays (2020-23), and Minnesota Twins (2024). He recently participated in spring training with the Milwaukee Brewers but was released last Saturday. Throughout his career, Margot has played extensively at all three outfield positions—center field being his primary position with 542 games played—alongside stints in right field (242 games) and left field (115 games).

The right-handed hitter made his MLB debut with the Padres in 2016 and remained there for four seasons before joining the Rays in 2020. During his time with Tampa Bay, he appeared in four consecutive playoff series starting that year. In his single season with Minnesota in 2024, Margot batted .238 (75-for-315) with 17 doubles, four home runs, and 31 RBIs across 129 games.

Originally from San Cristobal in the Dominican Republic, Margot began his professional baseball journey when he was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 2011.
