Sandy K. Baruah, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Detroit Regional Chamber, participated in the Small Business Association of Michigan’s (SBAM) Small Business Briefing series on October 27. During the session, Baruah discussed findings from the Chamber’s recent Michigan Voter Poll, which was conducted in partnership with Glengariff Group, Inc.
Baruah previously served as administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration under President George W. Bush.
The poll revealed that Michigan voters are concerned about several economic issues. These include rising costs of goods, challenges in the job market, and uncertainty related to tariffs and global trade policy. The survey also found that voters are paying attention to how artificial intelligence might shape the future economy. According to Baruah, these results indicate that "economic conditions aren’t improving, and voters are noticing."
Baruah spoke with SBAM President and CEO Brian Calley and Sarah Miller during the briefing.
