Detroit City FC comes into the game after a 2-0 win over North Carolina FC last Saturday, which was their first victory since September 6. Jeciel Cedeño scored from the penalty spot just before halftime, and Ates Diouf added another goal in the 74th minute.
Following his performance, Jeciel Cedeño was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 31. According to the club, "Cedeño won and converted the match-winning penalty in the first half, and in addition to that, completed 71% of his passes, and he won seven of his eight duels."
With three matches left in the regular season—all against teams competing for playoff spots—Detroit City holds seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 35 points. The team is one point ahead of Rhode Island FC and three points ahead of Indy Eleven. They are two points behind sixth-place Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Loudoun United enters Saturday’s contest in fifth place with 39 points but has not won in its last four matches. In their most recent outing against Birmingham Legion, Loudoun conceded a penalty in the 29th minute for the only goal of the game. Near full time, striker Zach Ryan received a straight red card for a late tackle and will be suspended for this weekend’s matchup.
