Detroit City FC announces returning players for 2025 USL W League season

Detroit City FC has begun revealing its roster for the 2025 USL W League season. This marks the club's fourth year in the league and its sixth year fielding a women's first team.

Head coach David Dwaihy, now in his third year, expressed satisfaction with the return of many players from last season. He emphasized that maintaining roster continuity is crucial for success in the USL W League.

The returning players include both seasoned former professionals and promising high school talents. This combination is intended to promote mutual growth among team members. Many of these players have also participated in the MASL W League and Premier Arena Soccer League during the winter, which has enhanced their on-field chemistry and familiarity.

"We are blessed to have such a large group of returning players this summer. As talented as they are in a sporting sense, they are, above all, wonderful people, and I am genuinely excited to work with them once again," said Dwaihy.

- Ava Landstra (M) – Nationals Girls Academy

Last season, under second-year head coach Dave Dwaihy, Detroit City FC finished with a regular-season record of 10 wins and 2 losses. The team scored 24 goals while conceding only 5 across 12 matches. They won the USL W League's Great Lakes Division, earning their first playoff berth. In the playoffs, Le Rouge claimed victory in the Central Conference by defeating River Light FC and Indy Eleven at home to secure their first trophy for the women's side.

However, Le Rouge fell to Colorado Storm with a scoreline of 2–1 at Keyworth Stadium during the USL W League National Semifinal.

Further announcements regarding additional roster updates and coaching staff news for the upcoming season will be made in due course as Detroit City FC prepares for its season opener against AFC Ann Arbor on Saturday, May 17.
