Today, Detroit City Football Club extended the contract of goalkeeper Carlos Saldaña, retaining him in the Rouge and Gold jersey through the end of the 2026 season. Saldaña, who carries Legacy No. 212, has engaged in 19 matches for the club following his arrival before the 2024 season.
Carlos Saldaña has played four games in the current 2025 campaign, achieving a 3-1-0 win-loss record, with seven saves and one clean sheet in the matches he started.
Saldaña's first game for Detroit City FC was during the 2024 season US Open Cup against the Michigan Stars of NISA, where he maintained a clean sheet. One notable event was his performance against the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer in the US Open Cup. He helped Detroit City progress beyond the defending champions by both blocking a shot and scoring the final penalty in a shootout.
Before he became part of Detroit City FC, Saldaña spent two seasons with Sacramento Republic FC, another USL Championship team, where he worked under current Detroit City FC head coach Danny Dichio, who also shifted to Le Rouge from Sacramento Republic.
Detroit City FC will return to Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, April 26, opening their 2025 USL Jägermeister Cup campaign against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the initial Group Stage matchup for Group 4.
