Detroit City Football Club will travel to Arizona this Saturday for a match against Phoenix Rising FC. Scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. at Phoenix Rising Soccer Stadium, the game will be available live on the CBS Sports Golazo Network. Local broadcasts are also available on CW Detroit 50, and Michigan residents can stream the match for free on CBSDetroit.com.
Coming off a 0-0 draw against Monterey Bay FC last Saturday, Detroit City's goalkeeper Carlos Herrera was recognized for his performance. He earned USL Championship Team of the Week honors for week five, with three saves, 11 recoveries, and a 75% pass completion rate.
This marks Detroit's fourth away match in the first six weeks of the season. So far, the team has achieved six out of nine possible points on the road, with a single loss to Louisville City marking their only defeat away from home.
Phoenix Rising enters the game with a 1-2-2 record. Last weekend, they secured their first win of the season, defeating San Antonio FC 2-1. Rémi Cabral scored from a penalty in the 60th minute, with teammate Jearl Margaritha netting a non-penalty goal eight minutes later to secure the victory.
Cabral remains Phoenix's leading scorer, with three goals in five matches this season. He is closing in on his previous season's tally, needing only four more goals to match it.
Since DCFC joined the USL Championship in 2022, they have faced Phoenix twice, resulting in a 1-1 draw last season and a 5-0 loss in 2023 in Phoenix.
After this fixture, Detroit City will return to Keyworth Stadium next Wednesday for a third-round match in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup against Westchester SC. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The team will continue their league games at Keyworth Stadium on April 19th against Rhode Island FC, starting at 4:00 p.m. Tickets for Detroit City's matches can be purchased at their official website.
