The Detroit Red Wings are preparing for a crucial stretch of games as they resume their season following the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off break. With key players like captain Dylan Larkin still participating in international play and Lucas Raymond returning from Sweden, the team has been focused on training at Little Caesars Arena’s BELFOR Training Center.

Andrew Copp emphasized the importance of practice after a ten-day break. "Ten days is a long time to be away from the rink no matter if you’re skating, working out or doing nothing," Copp said. He noted that the four days of practice have been energetic and essential for regaining momentum.

Before the break, Detroit had an impressive record of 15-4-1 from December 29 to February 8. As they approach their final 27 regular-season games, Copp highlighted the focus on maintaining momentum and improving performance under head coach Todd McLellan's guidance. "[Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan] has been trying to make sure we’re paying attention to the details," he stated.

Copp also spoke about the team's evolving identity and resilience since Christmas. "We talked a little bit about identity again today...but something that we talked about at the end was our togetherness, resiliency and the team that we have," he added.

Coach McLellan expressed his anticipation for learning more about the team's capabilities in upcoming games. “Who are we? That’s going to get answered in the next 27 games,” he remarked, questioning whether they are playoff contenders or not.

In preparation for their upcoming match against Columbus Blue Jackets in Ohio Stadium, Wednesday marked the first practice with their NHL Stadium Series helmets. Tyler Motte commented on their design, noting its connection to "the University of Michigan and [its] rivalry [with The Ohio State University]."

“It’s an exciting time,” Motte said regarding breaking in new gear for this anticipated event. The Red Wings aim to elevate this rivalry game while being "center stage for a night."
