Alycia Meriweather has been named the Detroit Lions 2024 Inspire Change Changemaker. This annual award recognizes local leaders making a significant impact in their community, aligning with the NFL's Inspire Change initiatives focusing on education, economic advancement, police-community relations, or criminal justice reform.

Meriweather serves as the Deputy Superintendent of External Partnerships and Innovation for the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD). Her career spans over two decades, during which she has held various roles such as lead teacher and Interim Superintendent. Her work integrates traditional education methods with innovative approaches to address diverse student needs.

In 2023, Meriweather collaborated with the Detroit Lions to conduct CPR/AED training for 400 DPSCD faculty members at Ford Field and provided 30 training kits for ongoing staff and student instruction. She also played a role in DPSCD's participation in the 2024 NFL Draft, offering unique experiences to over 2,000 local students.

Meriweather will be honored at the Detroit Lions Inspire Change game on December 15 for her contributions toward social justice. She will receive a $10,000 donation from the NFL Foundation directed to a non-profit organization of her choice.

"We are proud to announce Alycia Meriweather as the Detroit Lions 2025 Inspire Change Changemaker," stated Roxanne Caine, Vice President of Detroit Lions Foundation and Community Relations. "Throughout her career, she has been an invaluable partner to our club."

"It is an incredible honor to be selected by the Detroit Lions as their Inspire Change Changemaker of the year," said Meriweather. "I represent all of the Changemakers in the Detroit Public Schools Community District."

"The NFL and Inspire Change take pride in recognizing these 32 Changemakers," remarked Anna Isaacson, Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility.
