The Detroit Red Wings extended their winning streak to five games with a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome. This win also marked the third consecutive season in which the Red Wings have swept the series against the Flames.

Detroit's goalie, Cam Talbot, made 33 saves, securing his ninth win in ten games and extending the team's point streak to six. Calgary's goaltender, Dustin Wolf, stopped 23 shots. Both teams now hold 57 points each.

“We’ve been gutting out a lot of wins lately,” said Talbot. “It’s nice to see that we can win in a lot of different ways.”

The Red Wings took an early lead with Dylan Larkin scoring his team-leading 23rd goal of the season at 8:27 of the first period. Dominik Shine earned his first NHL career point with an assist on this goal.

“It means the world,” Shine commented on achieving his first point.

Simon Edvinsson doubled Detroit's lead just before the end of the first period with a shot from the left face-off circle.

“His legs get him into play and when he gets in trouble, his legs get him out of it,” head coach Todd McLellan remarked about Edvinsson.

Calgary attempted a comeback with Nazem Kadri scoring a power-play goal in the third period, but Andrew Copp sealed Detroit's victory by scoring into an empty net.

“We’re winning in a whole bunch of different ways right now and that’s what good teams do this time of year,” Talbot added.

The Red Wings will continue their road trip against Vancouver Canucks next.
