The Detroit Red Wings are set to conclude their three-game homestand with a match against the Los Angeles Kings at Little Caesars Arena on Monday night. The game, which starts at 7 p.m., will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit Extra and the Red Wings Radio Network.
The upcoming match will end the season series between these teams. The Red Wings aim for a split after losing 4-1 in Los Angeles last November. Elmer Soderblom emphasized the importance of home advantage, saying, “It feels like we play good on home ice with all the fans in the building.”
In their previous game, the Red Wings achieved a 2-0 victory over Tampa Bay Lightning. Goalie Cam Talbot secured his 33rd NHL career shutout with 28 saves. Marco Kasper and Michael Rasmussen scored for Detroit.
Head coach Todd McLellan mentioned that some players are dealing with injuries. Tyler Motte is cleared to play, but Patrick Kane, Jeff Petry, and J.T. Compher remain sidelined. Vladimir Tarasenko's availability is uncertain due to illness.
Facing his former team for the first time this season, McLellan reflected on his time with Los Angeles: “It’s odd because it’s like you got sent to another family... But that’s okay.”
The Kings have lost five of their last seven games following an overtime defeat by Columbus Blue Jackets. Adrian Kempe leads Los Angeles in goals and points this season while Anze Kopitar follows closely in scoring.
Soderblom acknowledged the challenge posed by Los Angeles: “That’s a really good team,” he said.
