In a match held at Little Caesars Arena, the Detroit Red Wings emerged victorious against the Montreal Canadiens with a 4-2 win. This victory ended the Red Wings' three-game winless streak and marked a special milestone for their captain, Dylan Larkin, who played his 700th NHL game. Larkin contributed significantly to the win with a power-play goal and an assist.

"A huge win for us and memorable night for myself," Larkin expressed, noting his 12th multi-point game of the season and extending his point streak to three games. He emphasized the importance of building on this performance after returning from a challenging road trip.

Goalie Cam Talbot was instrumental in securing Detroit's win, making 27 saves. The team also recorded a season-high of 45 shots against Montreal. Head coach Todd McLellan praised Larkin's dedication: "He’s a true Red Wing... Seven hundred games means a lot."

The game's scoring began seven minutes into the first period when Jonatan Berggren scored following an assist from Larkin. Alex DeBrincat doubled Detroit's lead just before the end of the first period, assisted by Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider.

Andrew Copp further extended Detroit's lead early in the second period with a short-handed goal. McLellan highlighted this moment as crucial: "The short-handed goal was a big one."

Montreal responded quickly with Kirby Dach scoring soon after Copp's goal, but Larkin added another for Detroit to make it 4-1 during a power play. The Canadiens reduced their deficit again through Kaiden Guhle later in the second period.

Detroit maintained its lead thanks to Talbot’s efforts in stopping Cole Caufield’s breakaway attempt during the third period. The penalty kill unit successfully defended after an unsuccessful challenge for goaltender interference.

Seider commented on their successful penalty kill: "It’s obviously a great feeling, getting that feeling from your coach."

Looking ahead, Detroit is set to host Tampa Bay Lightning next at Little Caesars Arena.
