The Detroit Red Wings are preparing for the 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series scheduled for March 1, where they will compete against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Ohio Stadium. The excitement for this event increased after the unveiling of the uniforms by the NHL and Fanatics last Thursday.
Detroit head coach Todd McLellan expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming game. “I think it gets a little bit more real when those jerseys do come out,” he told DetroitRedWings.com. He noted that seeing some of the helmets around adds to the anticipation, emphasizing that playing in such games is an honor and offers a welcome break during the season.
Dylan Larkin, who modeled the new uniforms, praised their design: “I think the jersey is beautiful,” he said. He highlighted elements like "the front crest with the ‘Detroit’ script wordmark" and looked forward to playing at Ohio Stadium, known as "the Horseshoe."
Fanatics designed these uniforms with input from both teams and emphasized Detroit's automotive industry and hockey culture in their design. More details on these designs can be found online, with merchandise becoming available in February.
Andrew Copp commented on how good they look and anticipated an exciting game at such a storied venue. J.T. Compher also liked his uniform’s appearance, noting that outdoor games offer a unique bonding experience for teams.
Both teams have players who were Michigan alumni, adding familiarity on both sides of this matchup. Copp remarked on training with some of these players over summer in Plymouth and expected an intense game due to these personal connections.
Tickets for this year's Stadium Series are available now for Red Wings fans.
“It’ll be cool,” Compher added regarding playing in front of potentially one hundred thousand people at Ohio Stadium.
