Both the Detroit Red Wings and Dallas Stars are set to face off at the American Airlines Center on Sunday night, following losses in their respective weekend back-to-back games. The match between Detroit (21-20-4; 46 points) and Dallas (28-16-1; 57 points) will commence at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT, with coverage available on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network.
Detroit's recent encounter against the Tampa Bay Lightning ended in a 5-1 defeat during their four-game road trip. Despite recording a season-high of 40 shots on goal, the Red Wings managed only one power-play goal out of six opportunities.
Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan remarked, “It was what Tampa did, but it was also what Detroit was doing... Passing was not crisp... We’re probably getting a little spoiled here expecting two or three [power-play goals] a night.”
Lucas Raymond, who scored for Detroit in Tampa Bay, emphasized the need for improved defensive play: “That’s the way we need to play... We need to play with pace, get pucks to the net, be strong defensively.”
The Stars are also seeking recovery after a 6-3 loss at Ball Arena. Matt Duchene and Jason Robertson lead Dallas in scoring this season. Goalies Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith have contributed significantly with 28 wins combined.
Red Wings goalie Alex Lyon expressed readiness for Sunday's game: “With the ups always comes the downs... We just have to be prepared to stay even.”
