The Detroit Red Wings are preparing to extend their season-high winning streak to eight games as they conclude a four-game homestand against the San Jose Sharks at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night. The game, which marks the second and final matchup between the teams this season, is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network.

In their previous encounter, Detroit secured a point but fell 5-4 in overtime in San Jose on November 18. Joe Veleno commented on the team's current form: “I think we’re riding a lot of highs and there’s a lot of positivity in our game,” he said. “We just got to keep playing to our strengths, doing what we’re doing and riding this thing right now.”

The Red Wings recently defeated the Seattle Kraken 6-2, jumping to an early lead with four goals before eight minutes had passed in the first period. Veleno noted that during their winning streak, "we’ve been challenged in a lot of different ways," adding that they have managed both leading and trailing situations effectively.

Detroit's power play has been particularly effective, going 3-for-5 against Seattle. This marks the eighth consecutive game with at least one power-play goal for Detroit, who are now operating at a 50 percent success rate under head coach Todd McLellan. Lucas Raymond leads the team with 22 power-play points this season and emphasized their strategic approach: “We’ve gotten really good at retrieving pucks and attacking off of it,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Sharks aim to end a three-game losing streak following a recent loss to the Minnesota Wild. Mikael Granlund leads San Jose with 36 points this season, followed by William Eklund with 31 points and rookie Macklin Celebrini with 29 points.

Reflecting on his time coaching San Jose from 2008 to 2015, McLellan described it as “some really good years.” He acknowledged that while he felt prepared when leaving Detroit for San Jose, there was still much to learn: “You carry yourself like you are [ready], but you still have a lot to learn,” he said.
