Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, Carolina Hurricanes center Jordan Staal, and Detroit Red Wings right wing Patrick Kane have been recognized as the NHL's "Three Stars" presented by GEICO for the week ending January 12.

Patrick Kane was named the Third Star after contributing significantly to the Detroit Red Wings' recent success. Over three games, Kane accumulated six points with two goals and four assists. This performance helped the Red Wings achieve a perfect week and extended their winning streak to seven games, dating back to December 29. The team is now just two points away from securing a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Kane scored his 13th career overtime goal and his 79th career game-winning goal in a match against the Ottawa Senators on January 7, which ended in a 3-2 victory for Detroit. On January 10, he provided three assists during a game against his former team, the Chicago Blackhawks, leading to a 5-3 win. He finished off the week with one goal and one assist in a decisive 6-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken on January 12.

At age 36, Kane continues to demonstrate his skills on ice. He was voted one of the "100 Greatest NHL Players" during the League's Centennial celebration. This season, he has recorded ten goals and seventeen assists across thirty-seven games. Nearly half of these points were earned during Detroit’s current winning streak from December 29 to January 12.
