The Detroit Red Wings secured their sixth consecutive victory with a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena. The game, held on Friday night, showcased strong performances from several Red Wings players.
Lucas Raymond contributed significantly to the win with a power-play goal and an assist, marking his 14th multi-point game of the season. Reflecting on the match, Raymond said, "It was a good game. I think our best periods were probably the second and third."
Red Wings' goalie Cam Talbot made 12 saves, while Blackhawks' netminder Petr Mrazek stopped 23 shots. Detroit head coach Todd McLellan commented on the team's performance: "We didn’t stay in the same spot, and you’re never there. Tonight, we moved it forward."
The Red Wings took an early lead when Alex DeBrincat scored at 4:26 of the first period. Patrick Kane assisted by maneuvering through Chicago's defense before setting up DeBrincat for a breakaway goal.
Ryan Donato equalized for Chicago midway through the first period with assistance from Connor Bedard. However, Raymond restored Detroit's lead early in the second period during a power play.
Andrew Copp extended Detroit's advantage to 3-1 five minutes into the third period with assists from Erik Gustafsson and Kane. Albert Johansson scored his first NHL goal shortly after Copp's effort.
Chicago's Teuvo Teravainen narrowed the gap with two goals in quick succession during the third period. Marco Kasper sealed Detroit’s victory with an empty-net goal assisted by Simon Edvinsson.
Looking ahead, McLellan expressed enthusiasm about Johansson’s development: “Anytime a young man scores his first goal in the League... we’re really excited.” Raymond also praised Johansson’s milestone achievement as "a special moment and a big accomplishment."
The Red Wings aim to continue their winning streak against Seattle Kraken on Sunday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena.
