Detroit City FC is set to hold an open tryout for men aspiring to join their first team on January 24. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at High Velocity in Canton, with a registration fee of $110, which includes lunch and snacks.
The tryouts are open to men aged 16 and older, with previous professional, college, or high-level amateur experience recommended. Participants will be evaluated by sporting director Trevor James, head coach Danny Dichio, the first team, DCFC II, and the DCFC Academy technical staff. Those selected may receive further evaluation or earn a spot in the 2025 preseason camp.
"We aim to leave no stone unturned in enhancing our roster, which includes hosting open tryouts for player evaluations," said Detroit City sporting director Trevor James. "The professional leagues are full of stories of players who have been overlooked until given the right opportunity to showcase their talent. We’re excited to see who shows up to prove they should be a Detroit City player."
Participants must cover their own travel costs and lodging if necessary. The team does not generally assist with visas or letters of invitation but may do so on a case-by-case basis.
Tryout sessions will be conducted indoors on turf fields. Players need to bring their gear and personal water bottles.
For any questions regarding the tryout, players can contact the first-team technical staff at team@detcityfc.com. Interested participants can register online through the provided link.
