The Detroit Lions have announced that the Thanksgiving Day Classic on November 28 will feature a halftime performance by Grammy-nominated artist Shaboozey. The game against the Chicago Bears, marking the Lions' 85th annual event, will be broadcast nationally on CBS at 12:30 PM EST.

Shaboozey is recognized for his contributions to both alternative country and hip-hop music. He was born to Nigerian parents and grew up in Woodbridge, Virginia. His musical influences range from classic hip-hop and R&B to country legends like Johnny Cash and Garth Brooks, as well as lyricists such as Bob Dylan.

He gained prominence with features on Beyoncé's album COWBOY CARTER and released an acclaimed album titled Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going. This work debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200. Rolling Stone praised it for "honoring country tradition and moving it forward." NPR called him "the future of country music," while the Los Angeles Times named him "the breakout country artist of the year."

His single "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" achieved significant success with a 6X RIAA-platinum certification and topped various Billboard charts in 2024. It also made history by making Shaboozey the first Black artist to simultaneously lead Billboard's Hot Country Songs and Hot 100 charts.

Shaboozey received nominations for Best New Artist and Song of the Summer at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2024. He won awards for New Artist of 2024 at the People's Choice Country Awards and was listed as a TIME100 NEXT honoree. Additionally, he was nominated for New Artist of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.

Beyond music, Shaboozey has collaborated with YSL Beauty for a campaign celebrating his Virginian roots. His debut tour sold out before launch, and he is currently performing alongside Jelly Roll on a tour that included a recent stop in Detroit.
